Psalm 125

Good Morning “Good Choice Makers.” Today we are in Psalm 125.

“As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the Lord surrounds his people both now and forevermore.” Psalms‬ ‭125‬:‭2‬ ‭NIV‬‬

What a reminder for Israel to sing as they ascend on Jerusalem.   The Lord is our strength, He is our protection.

“The scepter of the wicked will not remain over the land allotted to the righteous, for then the righteous might use their hands to do evil.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭125‬:‭3‬ ‭NIV‬‬

God is faithful to not allow us to be tempted beyond what we can bear.  He expects us to endure temptation when we are tempted. (1 Corinthians 10:12-13)

Scripture also encourages us to be smart (1 Corinthians 15:33-34).  Make wise choices.  The best way to avoid being sucked in by temptation is simply to remove the possibility of it.  We KNOW we are not strong - so we should be smart.

How far is too far?  Why do we wonder where the line is?  The trouble with walking a line is we inevitably fall over it.  We shouldn’t want to be anywhere near temptation.

Remember Abraham and Lot?  Lot chose to live near Sodom despite common knowledge of the people’s wickedness.  In no time at all, he and his family were sucked in.  What transpired was a downward spiral that cost him his wife, and corrupted them all.  Review Genesis 13 and 19.  Remember how twisted it gets?

Satan is crafty.  Avoiding temptation entirely may be impossible, but we ought to all take a look at our lives.  Where are we willingly subjecting  ourselves to temptation? We may have hobbies, forms of entertainment, places we frequent, or people we spend time with that put us right in the middle of tempting situations.  We know it, and curse the fact that we are tempted, even expect God to miraculously protect us - yet continue to subject ourselves to it.  You know how crazy that sounds?

Love you all!  Dig in!  Make good choices!
