Good Morning “By God”. Today we are in Psalm 124.
“If the Lord had not been on our side— “ Psalms 124:1 NIV
It’s clear in David’s mind… was it not for God and His hand of protection, they would have been swept away, torn by the teeth of their enemies. We live in a world that makes it really easy to credit ourselves with our protection, our own hands for our provision, and modern medicine for our healing. We have created a world in which it appears we’ve no need for God.
Hmmm the truth of Scripture is that it’s all an extension of Gods grace to us. Regardless of the tools He uses - it’s Him - ALL Him.
“For who makes you different from anyone else? What do you have that you did not receive? And if you did receive it, why do you boast as though you did not?” 1 Corinthians 4:7 NIV
He gives us breath and life (Genesis 2:7, Job 27:3-4, Job 32:8, Psalm 104:27-29).
He alone is our salvation! (Romans 3:23, 6:23, Isaiah 12:2, John 14:6). By His Grace, nothing we’ve done can earn it. (Isaiah 64:6, Ephesians 2:8-10)
He sustains us. (Psalm 55:22, Philippians 4:19, Psalm 84:11, Matthew 6:25-33)
He protects us, nothing can separate us from His love. (2 Thessalonians 3:3, Psalm 34:7, Psalm 46:1, Roman’s 8:31-39)
He molds and makes us into what He wants us to be (Philippians 1:6).
He is sovereign, in control of all things (Proverbs 16:33, Jeremiah 32:17, Psalm 135:7, Amos 3:6)
He IS Lord of ALL (Ephesians 4:6). He is our Lord. We can acknowledge that and serve Him, like David or choose to go our own way. Remember though… our breath is His.
