Good Morning “Light Receivers.” Today we are in Psalm 118.
“Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.”
Psalms 118:1 NIV
I know you’ve heard that before! The Psalmist rejoices in Gods deliverance, and blessing. He rejoices in salvation and life eternal - through The Savior. He also rejoices in Gods chastening him. In other words he’s thankful that The Lord has disciplined him, and made him righteous. “The Lord has chastened me severely, but he has not given me over to death. Open for me the gates of the righteous; I will enter and give thanks to the Lord.” Psalms 118:18-19 NIV
As you read did you catch the prophecies regarding Jesus? Were you reminded of the mention of these passages and their fulfillment in the New Testament?
- “The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone;”
Psalms 118:22 NIV
Jesus was the One rejected (John 1:11-12). Then… From Jesus Himself: “Haven’t you read this passage of Scripture: “ ‘The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone; the Lord has done this, and it is marvelous in our eyes’ ?” Mark 12:10-11 NIV
- “The Lord is God, and he has made his light shine on us... Psalms 118:27 NIV.
Then… “When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” John 8:12 NIV See also John 1:4, 1:9, 9:5 and His light shinning through us Matthew 5:14-16.
Those are just a couple, there are more references back to this Psalm. See if you can find some.
Love you all! Dig in!
