Good Morning “Objects of Envy.” Today we are in Psalm 117.
The shortest chapter in all of Scripture says so much!
“Praise the Lord, all you nations; extol him, all you peoples. For great is his love toward us, and the faithfulness of the Lord endures forever. Praise the Lord.”
Psalms 117:1-2 NIV
All you nations, all you peoples! Yes praise the Lord there is a place for us “Gentiles”, peoples of other nations, in the Kingdom of Heaven! Let’s be clear, God never rejected anyone who turned to Him in repentance - even before Jesus. Consider Rahab, Ruth, and others. However, Jesus came first to the Jews but they rejected Him making way for us.
“He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God—” John 1:11-12 NIV
So what of Israel and the Jews? Are they out? Forever lost? Some actually believe that, but Scripture speaks absolutely to the contrary. Paul addresses that very question in depth in Romans 11. Here is just one verse:
“Again I ask, Did they stumble so as to fall beyond recovery? Not at all! Rather, because of their transgression, salvation has come to the Gentiles to make Israel envious.” Romans 11:11 NIV
Praise God He has a plan, not just for Israel but for us!
“…Israel has experienced a hardening in part until the full number of the Gentiles has come in, and in this way all Israel will be saved. …” Romans 11:25-26 NIV
Gods love and faithfulness endures forever! Praise The Lord!
