Good Morning “Firmly Founded.” Today we are in Psalm 87.
Psalm 87 is a celebration of the city of Jerusalem. Jerusalem was God’s favored city among all those in the Promised Land. He exalted the city by His power, she is special for that reason alone!
Jerusalem was built on a firm foundation indeed, but even the best foundation will not hold if placed on bad soil or volatile ground. Notice where the foundation was placed for Jerusalem. “He has founded his city on the holy mountain.” Psalms 87:1 NIV Not just any mountain The Holy Mountain.
The wise man built His house upon The Rock! Spiritually speaking He will work in us too, to construct a firm foundation… (Philippians 1:6), but we play a role. It all begins with the ground, the bedrock - Jesus!
We must choose to receive Him, repent of our sin, (Acts 3:19) and “BELIEVE” (Romans 10:9). The strength of our foundation comes through His Word alone (Matthew 7:24-27). The winds may come and the waters rise, and the winds will blow but a house built on The Rock will stand. Jesus is The Rock (1 Corinthians 10:4, 1 Peter 2:6-8)!
A house built upon the sand will not stand. Our world is full of indulgences for our flesh. False and skewed teaching abounds. It sounds good, may feel good in the moment, encouraging even… but like sand they offer no strength. Only The Truth of God, His Word - taught by The Spirit of God can do that. It, and It alone is the great definer of all that is True. Through it we strengthen our foundation (Joshua 1:8, Hebrews 4:12, Psalm 119:9-11).
Love you all! Dig in!
