Good Morning “On Fire For Him”.
Today we are in Psalm 85.
The exiles have returned from Babylon, during Nehemiah and Ezra’s time. God has forgiven His people and brought them back to their land. The Psalmist asks for Gods restoration, but not just restoration to their land, restoration to right relationship with God. The people have repented but there seems to be some doubt in the Psalmists plea… “I will listen to what God the Lord says; he promises peace to his people, his faithful servants— but let them not turn to folly.” Psalms 85:8 NIV
Will His people rejoice in Him, will He be enough this time, or will they once again turn to folly?
The same question dogs each of us when we’ve by Gods grace found our way to repentance and turned back to Him. What now? Will our fire for Him be renewed? Will our light shine brighter than ever? Did we learn our lesson? Or… will we get comfortable and once again falter? Let’s not forget Numbers 14:18. It simply isn’t worth it!
The Psalmist pleads for revival. We must first be awakened to our depravity, that’s where discipline comes in. Once disciplined then ought come repentance, forgiveness, then revival may come. “Restore us, O God of our salvation, and cause Your anger toward us to cease. Will You be angry with us forever? Will You prolong Your anger to all generations? Will You not revive us again, that Your people may rejoice in You? Show us Your mercy, Lord, and grant us Your salvation.” Psalm 85:4-7 (NKJV)
This salvation is offered to all, but only comes to us through Jesus by true belief, and repentance. Check out Romans 3:22-26.
