Good Morning “Comforted With The End of The Story.” Today we are in Psalm 83.
Asaph mentions 10 different nations of people set on destroying Israel. Nowhere in Scripture do we see these 10 all attacking Israel at one time, so we take this as a summary of Israel’s oppressed history.
Gods people have always been under attack. Millions upon millions of Jews have been killed throughout history simply for being Jews. Christians are not immune. It’s estimated that more than 70 million Christians have been martyred for their faith throughout history.
Why? Why is there such a bent to destroy those who purpose to reflect Gods righteousness? We’ve considered this phenomenon before. We know the evil one is diligently working to destroy anything God does. He uses the deceived, as well as the willing - those bent on opposing God.
Satan is indeed the great tempter, but let’s remember man is inherently evil (Psalm 51:5). “Carnal Man” desires the things of the flesh. Consider James 1:14
“…each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed.” It’s only through Jesus that we can be any different (2 Corinthians 5:17, Galatians 2:20).
In the absence of Jesus living through us, our hearts are desperately wicked (Jeremiah 17:9). Simply put. We want what we want. Untutored by The Word of God taught by The Spirit of God a person becomes defensive, aggressive, even militant toward anyone who opposes their desires. In short, don’t tell me I can’t have what I want.
We however; can take comfort knowing the end of the story. God always wins! Israel wins! As “Gods Children”, those that have been grafted in, we win! (John 1:12, Romans 11:11-32, Revelation 21)
Love you all! Dig in!
