Good Morning “Looking Forward to our Perfection.” Today we are in Job 17.
As Job continues his reply we see more prophetic language regarding Jesus . Job longed for the day when he would be made whole and understood God as the One to do it.
“Lay down, now, a pledge for me with Yourself; Who is there that will be my guarantor?”
Job 17:3 NASB1995
Job longs for The Savior. He continues with prophetic comparison…
“But He has made me a byword of the people, And I am one at whom men spit.”
Job 17:6 NASB1995
“Then they spat in His face and beat Him with their fists; and others slapped Him, and said, “Prophesy to us, You Christ; who is the one who hit You?””
Matthew 26:67-68 NASB1995
We view Job as a “type” of Jesus. We cringe at his suffering yet I feel like at times we gloss over the suffering of our Savior. It can be difficult to manufacture compassion for someone we don’t truly LOVE. Furthermore I believe that because He was God, we somehow reason it was “easy” for Him. However; in His humanity, He was tempted and tested more than we could ever know - because of His deity He could not be broken. It is the suffering of our Savior that made possible our perfection in that day.
“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.” Hebrews 12:1-3 NIV
Rejoice, rejoice! Love you all! Dig in!
