Good Morning “Preparing For Such A Time.” Today we are in Esther 2.
From man’s point of view, Esther, a Jewish girl, may have seemed an unlikely candidate for Queen of Persia. In fact Wikipedia claims “The book of Esther is a work of fiction. Persian kings would never marry outside of the seven novel Persian families”… so it says.
Ha ha - Fact check… False. “…All this was recorded in the book of the annals in the presence of the king.” Esther 2:23b NIV
God is not concerned with human traditions or cultural normalcy. Esther seems to find herself in the running for Queen due to a whole host of “coincidences”. However, we know that God is sovereign over all - there is no such thing as coincidence.
Esther is humble, obedient and submissive - all on full display in Esther throughout this book. God had a plan, and by her character she positioned herself well to be used by Him.
She was both willing to submit to the kings edict, and her adopted father Mordecai’s advice at each step. In so doing she submitted to The Lord (Romans 13).
Never forget even when it appears like things are out of control - God is in control…
“In the LORD’s hand the king’s heart is a stream of water that he channels toward all who please him.” Proverbs 21:1
God has placed the authorities in our lives and works through them to move and direct us…
“In the same way, you who are younger, submit yourselves to your elders. All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because, “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.” Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time.”
1 Peter 5:5-6 NIV
Likely you know the story… if so, let’s review it together. If not… just wait. It gets better!
Maybe you too, as you’ve submitted to The Lord, have seen God do amazing things through unexpected events in your life. If not… stay tuned, He will. (Proverbs 3:5-6)
Love you all! Dig in!
