2 Kings 10

Good Morning “Reminded of Gods  Promises.”  Today we are in 2 Kings 10.

Ahab was an evil king - among the worst.  He led Israel into a horribly sinful period.  Elijah brought him a Word from The Lord back in 1 Kings - remember?  “Ahab said to Elijah, “So you have found me, my enemy!” “I have found you,” he answered, “because you have sold yourself to do evil in the eyes of the Lord. He says, ‘I am going to bring disaster on you. I will wipe out your descendants and cut off from Ahab every last male in Israel—slave or free.” 1 Kings‬ ‭21‬:‭20‬-‭21‬

This chapter begins with the fulfillment of that promise.  Jehu saw himself a servant of The Lord and acted swiftly to bring about The Lords Justice.  Although Jehu himself had his own struggles, he attacked the evil of Ahab and Baal with swift, zealous justice.  Heads in baskets… wow!

The brutality of this chapter reminds us once again that God doesn’t play when it comes to evil and those that oppose Him.  As we read with our jaws agape, be reminded of His Justice yet to come as this world nears its end.  At this time the restraint, The Holy Spirit, Who dwells in the hearts of believers has at some degree kept evil at bay.  We haven’t seen anything yet, and for the believer we won’t.  At His appointed time, The Church, (true believers) will be removed, caught up to meet Jesus in the clouds so that evil may run wild and sin may have its way (1 Thessalonians 4:16-18).

Paul in 2 Thessalonians 2 explains it well.

We know the end of the story.  God wins.  What we are reading here in this chapter pales in comparison to the judgment upon and destruction of evil yet to come.  I urge you - make your election sure.  Know where you stand!  (2 Peter 1:3-10, Philippians 2:12).

Love you all!  Dig in!
