1 Kings 3

Good Morning “Receivers of Gods Good Gifts.”  Today we are in 1 Kings 3.

What is it your heart longs for?  What do you ask for in prayer?  Who do your prayers benefit?
What was the last thing you prayed for?
What if God came to you in a dream and said, “Ask for whatever you want me to give you.” 1 Kings‬ ‭3‬:‭5‬ ‭NIV‬‬

What would you ask for?
A million bucks?  Fame?  A new truck?  What would it be?

We get a picture of Solomon’s shepherd heart here.  No doubt something he witnessed in his father David.  Solomon asked for none of those things, although a truck back in those days would have been pretty cool.  No… Solomon asks for wisdom.  But why?  So that he could better govern the people! He humbly admits he is inexperienced!  God grants his request - with other blessing too!

Later as two women come claiming one baby,  he uses the wisdom he’d received.  What’s the deciding factor between the women?  Love!  Only one demonstrated love!

As always this is a picture of a larger story.  Consider the offers of both Satan and Jesus.  We get to choose which one we want. One promises life eternal, through His Love… (John 3:16).  The other, well… only comes to seek kill and destroy (John 10:10, 1 Peter 5:8).  One led by love, one led by selfishness.  The choice is clear.  Choose love, choose life.

Once you’ve chosen, choose wisdom! As with Solomon, God will grant it.  â€œIf any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” James‬ ‭1‬:‭5‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Why?  So that we may govern our own lives, making wise choices which Glorify Him and love well those God has surrounded us with!  (Proverbs 3:13-26)

Love you all!  Dig in!
