2 Samuel 15

Good Morning “Not Lured In.”  Today we are in 2 Samuel 15.

…Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.” 1 Peter 5:8  He’s a master of deception and persuasion and uses any means he can to do it.

Here we read about Absalom, and his turning, conspiring, and the coup he leads against his father David.  Absalom turns on his father, the one who forgave him for murdering his brother - and instead extended grace.

Absalom is smooth, charming, and has a way with words that paints his father, David, the king, Gods anointed -  in a negative light.  I’m not sure which is more disgusting, Absalom, or those he so easily turns against the king.  Sounds a lot like the story of Jesus doesn’t it?  Once heralded, then crucified.

Beware of those who speak against Gods anointed, while telling you what you want to hear.  Those things that tickle your ears aren’t often what you need to hear.

“For the time will come when they will not tolerate sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance with their own desires.”  2 Timothy 4:3

“Those who flatter their neighbors are spreading nets for their feet.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭29‬:‭5‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“I urge you, brothers and sisters, to watch out for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in your way that are contrary to the teaching you have learned. Keep away from them. For such people are not serving our Lord Christ, but their own appetites. By smooth talk and flattery they deceive the minds of naive people.” Romans‬ ‭16‬:‭17‬-‭18‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Love you all!  Dig in!
