Titus 2

Good Morning “Example Setters.”  Today we are in Titus 2.

Paul starts this chapter by giving Titus some clear guidance as to what he should be teaching, both older and younger men and women.  I’m left with a question though… if they have already been following false, distorted teaching why would they now listen to Titus?  I believe the answer is in Paul’s next movement.

“In everything set them an example by doing what is good. In your teaching show integrity, seriousness and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned, so that those who oppose you may be ashamed because they have nothing bad to say about us.” Titus‬ ‭2‬:‭7‬-‭8‬ ‭NIV‬‬

If we do not approach The Word of God and our teaching with seriousness, why would anyone take it seriously?  If we are to be counted as mature followers of Jesus, the example we set should be a good one.  Why would someone listen to and apply what you are teaching if you are not living what you teach?  What’s at stake?  What’s it all for?  It’s for those He’s brought into our midst.  We have a job to do.

“For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.”
‭‭Titus‬ ‭2‬:‭11‬-‭14‬ ‭NIV‬‬

The Grace of God is so powerful and overwhelming!  Through Gods Grace we have the power to overcome all the sin that entangles us.  To be a living example of a life changed, that others might listen and follow.

Love you all!  Dig in!  Live it out.
