2 Thessalonians 1

Good Morning “Marvel-ers” - and I’m not talking Marvel Comics.  Today we look at 2 Thessalonians 1.

We ended 1 Thessalonians talking about the Rapture of The Church.  Shortly after Paul’s 1st letter he had to write a 2nd to correct a false report.  Some were teaching the “Day of The Lord” (the 2nd coming) had already come.  This was especially depressing for them as they were in the midst of serious suffering for Jesus, and waiting to be “raptured”.

Paul once again commends them for their faithful suffering, then assures them justice will be served to those who are twisting them up - when Jesus returns to judge. (His 2nd coming) God doesn’t take it lightly when we twist or misuse Scripture - especially when it causes distress to His Children needlessly.

He informs them that at Jesus 2nd coming, in judgment this time - believers  will “marvel” at Him.  Those who are not believers will shutter.  “They will be punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his might on the day he comes to be glorified in his holy people and to be marveled at among all those who have believed. This includes you, because you believed our testimony to you.”
‭‭2 Thessalonians‬ ‭1‬:‭9‬-‭10‬ ‭NIV‬‬

I have often been asked about Heaven and what we will do there.  “Are we just going to sit around and worship Jesus all day?”  YES, among other things - but YES!  “How fun will that be?  How is that possible?”  We already do that now - but with people.  Let me give an example.

Taylor Swift recently appeared to a sold out crowd at Broncos Stadium.  A sold out crowd who shelled out big $ for their tickets, and dressed in their finest for the show (it’s a T-Swift concert thing).  As she’s appeared in Denver and around the nation, social media is blowing up with pics, and dare I say worship type comments. Some even crying they are so overwhelmed.  “A dream come true.”  “I’ve waited my whole life to see her.”  “Truly life changing.”  “Nothing better.”  “The greatest day of my life”… So on and so on.

We are creatures of worship.  It’s the way we were designed.  It’s our default.  The only question is worshipers of what?  We were designed to marvel at the Savior, and fall and worship.  There will be nothing greater than to simply be in His presence!  That will be the greatest day of our lives!  We won’t be bored!

Love you all!  Dig in!
