Colossians 2

Good Morning “Rooted in Him”.  Check out Colossians 2.

“So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness. See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ.”

He is the reason we live.  He proved His love by going to the Cross.  He is the source of all things.  As we remain rooted in Him we receive all we need through the Holy Spirit.  In our heads we know He’s all we need, nevertheless; we are easily influenced by other forces.  It’s interesting, Paul doesn’t tip toe around the source behind these contrary influences.  He straight up calls them “elemental spiritual forces.”  He’s not talking about good spiritual forces getting us off track here - so what do you think he’s talking about?  

“Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.”

We must be diligent about daily “renewing our minds”, focusing on the God stuff that keeps us on track.  “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.” Philippians‬ ‭4‬:‭8‬ ‭NIV‬‬

I cannot overstate it.  We must daily be in The Word and know it.  
From the words of Solomon -
The wisest man that ever lived:

“How can a young person stay on the path of purity? By living according to your word. I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from your commands. I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.” Psalms‬ ‭119‬:‭9‬-‭11‬ NIV

We gotta be in It and know It to live by It!  We can’t hide in our hearts what we don’t know.
