Galatians 5

Good Morning “Livers by The Spirit.”  Today we dig into Galatians 5.

As Paul continues to urge the Galatian church’s to turn back to the Gospel, he urges them to live by the Spirit instead of the flesh. What does that even mean?  Paul goes on to give them examples of acts of the flesh:

“The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.” Galatians‬ ‭5‬:‭19‬-‭21‬ ‭NIV‬‬

I’m guessing we all can look at that list and find something we struggle with.  Once upon a time when we were without Jesus and His Holy Spirit we were enslaved by sin and the acts of the flesh.  Now, through Jesus and the washing / indwelling of The Holy Spirit we are free.  Why would we return to slavery?  Paul urges them to instead live by The Spirit.  Let the Spirit shine through!  Don’t veil the Spirit with our own evil desires, contrary choices!

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.”
‭‭Galatians‬ ‭5‬:‭22‬-‭25‬ ‭NIV‬‬

This is what we should be reflecting.

Love you all!  Dig in!
