Mark 1

Good Morning “Call Answerers.” Today we are in Mark 1.

You will likely notice some similarities as Matthew, Mark, Luke and John share their accounts of what they witnessed with Jesus.  Don’t get irritated at the repetition, pay attention to them.  Note the differences.  If God thought it was important enough to inspire more than one writer with the same message, it's probably important for us to be reminded.

What do you do to prepare for a big event?  Preparation is key! John the Baptist was all about preparing the way for Jesus to come.  He was preaching and baptizing - and even baptized Jesus!  Jesus was making last minute preparations as well.  He got baptized and then was sent by the Spirit to the wilderness to be tempted for 40 days.  All part of being prepared to seek and save the lost!  Are you prepared to get to work?  Are you prepared to see Jesus?  We might want to get there!

After the desert Jesus returns, recovers, and gets to work Preaching!  “The time has come,” he said. “The kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the good news!” Mark‬ ‭1‬:‭15‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Think about this - if that was the message more than 2000 years ago, the kingdom of God is much  closer now.  Repent and believe was the message then - repent and believe is still the message now.

Repentance is much more than being sorry.  It's this idea of coming into agreement with God regarding your sin and then turning the other way from it - making adjustments so you don't sin in that way again.  “If your eye causes you to sin pop it out”. Matt. 5:29

Jesus builds His team by calling the disciples - note their response is immediate.  That's what you do when Jesus calls - you respond immediately.

Do you have sin you need to repent of?  We all do, so likely you do too.  Is He calling you?  I got news for you - He is!  Either to salvation, or to join Him in His work - He's calling.  The two go together.  He calls with good work already prepared for us to do - Ephesians 2:8-10 He calls us to salvation and that comes with the expectation that we’ll get to work!  Let’s do it!

Love You All!  Dig in and live it out!  Let’s get to work!
