Jonah 2

Good Morning “Childlike”.  Today we are in Jonah 2.

Jonah in the belly of the great fish.  As children, we love this story!  As adults many question it!  Children don’t struggle to believe it!  Some say it’s because they are young and naive.  Others realize it’s simply because in their (childlike) faith they simply BELIEVE!  They BELIEVE!  Is that a bad thing?  Jesus loves me this I KNOW for The Bible tells me so!  Jesus goes so far as to say unless we change, and have faith like a child we have no place with Him (Matthew 18:3-4).

A child is humble, absolutely dependent, trustworthy, they are full of wonder for our God and His amazing works!  They forgive easily…

Jonah’s prayer from the belly of the fish demonstrates all of these principles.  Jonah is brought to His knees as God reminds Him Who’s in control.  From His humbled position, He looks up!  ““Those who cling to worthless idols turn away from God’s love for them. But I, with shouts of grateful praise, will sacrifice to you. What I have vowed I will make good. I will say, ‘Salvation comes from the Lord.’ ”Jonah‬ ‭2‬:‭8‬-‭9‬ ‭NIV‬‬

But wait… Did it even happen?  Could it have happened?  ABSOLUTELY!  I do not believe this is only a metaphorical story as some would argue!  First of all, biologists have run and rerun the scenario and proved that it COULD happen.

So what!  Our God is The God of Miracles not bound by science!  Our God brought manna from the heavens, water from the rock, parted the Red Sea, became flesh through the Virgin Mary, performed many many other miracles, endured The Cross, conquered death by raising from the grave - and continues to perform miracles to this day!  Right in front of our eyes!  Why would we ever question Him or His Word?  Instead, may we marvel, wonder, and always look up!

Love you all!  Dig in and live it out!
