Good Morning “Amazing Grace Proclaimers”. Today we are in Micah 7.
Praise God that He is The God of compassion (Exodus 34:6). Compassion seeks to remedy the situation. Compassion from the Webster Dictionary: “Sympathetic consciousness of others' distress together with a desire to alleviate it.” It’s more than sympathy that simply feels sorry for. We are lost in our sin alone. But, in our sin struggle He is compassionate and demonstrates His love with action! Throughout the Old Testament He harkens to the promised Messiah! We know Him as Jesus! (Roman’s 6:23; 5:8; 10:9; 8:1)
Even in His wrath we see His Grace. For His wrath / discipline for sin was meant to turn us back to Him (Hebrews 12:9-11). From the beginning all one needed to do was repent of sin and return to Him.
Anyone who thinks that God is only wrath in the Old Testament and only Grace in the New Testament must ignore most of Scripture. Micah’s message makes clear… there is no Old and New God. ONLY God (Malachi 3:6)! He’s ALWAYS sought to rebuke and judge sin, and grant mercy and grace to ALL who would seek it through humble repentance (Micah 7:18-20).
Understand… when God through Micah speaks of Jacob he’s referring to Israel. When he speaks of Abraham, He’s including ANYONE who like Abraham believes in The Lord by faith and is counted righteous through Gods Grace. Don’t forget, Abraham was a Gentile (from Ur of the Chaldeans) when he responded to the call of God (Genesis 11:27-31, 12:1; Nehemiah 9:7)
Matthew 1:1 describes Messiah Jesus as “Son of David, Son of Abraham” for this very reason. Salvation is (and has always
been) offered to both Jew and Gentile, by God’s grace, through faith in Him. John 3:16-17 is not just a New Testament Idea! Check Isaiah 49:6.
It’s just as we sing “Amazing Grace”! Love you all! Dig in and live it out!
