Good Morning “Humble Living Sacrifices”. Today we are in Micah 6.
Despite Gods watch care over them, Israel rejected The Word of The Lord. In addition to idol worship they had become dishonest in all of their dealings.
As God speaks regarding His wrath, Micah responds on Israel’s behalf acting as mediator. What would stay the Lords hand? What could they bring before Him? Burnt offerings, sacrifices?
“Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams, with ten thousand rivers of olive oil? Shall I offer my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?”
Micah 6:7 NIV
Hosea was one of Micah’s contemporaries, delivering Gods Word to Judah around the same time. Perhaps you recall what God said to them regarding their empty sacrifices.
“For I desire mercy, not sacrifice, and acknowledgment of God rather than burnt offerings.”
Hosea 6:6 NIV Jesus quoted these same Words in Matthew 9:13.
Gods never been interested in the show. Empty heartless acts, “going through the motions”, is never what He asked for. He wants our hearts and our complete devotion. When Micah on behalf of Israel suggests thousands of sacrifices, even their first born - God makes His requirement clear.
“He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” Micah 6:8 NIV
It’s pretty simple. Really cut and dry. He wants us, our hearts! Humbly serving Him daily as “living sacrifices” for His Glory and His purpose (Roman’s 12:1). That’s His will for our life.
Love you all! Dig in and live it out!
