Micah 1

Good Morning “Cyclists”.  Today we are in Micah 1.

The Prophet Micah serves as Gods prophet to the Southern Kingdom of Judah in the late 8th Century BC.  He foresees and speaks about both the Assyrias conquering of Israel and Babylons conquering of Judah. Why does God bring such judgment?  We’ve been studying why.  Both Israel and Judah ignored warning after warning, embracing their flesh and ignoring The Word of God.

Check out Micah’s extreme brokenness over their sin and impending destruction in Micah 1:8.  When you look at the sin of our world, does your heart break?

“Lord help me to see things the way you see them.  Break my heart over the things that break yours!”

About 20 years ago we were challenged by a Winter Retreat Speaker to begin praying that prayer.  The challenge came with a warning.  If you pray that prayer, He will answer, and you will never be the same.  You see, THATS a prayer He wants to answer.  He wants us to want His heart.

John 15:7 reminds us “If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.”

His heart is broken over our lack of desire for His Word.  We pray, He shows us just how big a deal our lack of desire is to Him, we spend more time in His Word - we get a better picture of His heart.   The more of His heart we understand the more brokenness we become aware of.  Recognition of that brokenness, sinfulness should drive us closer to Him.

Do you look at the sin of the world with indifference?  Struggle to want to stay plugged into His Word?  Pray.  Pray that prayer.  I dare you.

Love you all!  Dig in and live it out!
