Good Morning “Brothers and Sisters of Jesus”. Wait what? That’s not a term we hear everyday. Today we are in Hebrews 2, and yes, that’s how the writer refers to those who know Jesus.
“Both the one who makes people holy and those who are made holy are of the same family. So Jesus is not ashamed to call them brothers and sisters.”
Hebrews 2:11 NIV
Get a load of this: Brothers and Sisters, as written in the original Greek, is “adelphos” — brethren, literally it means womb-mates. Out of the same womb! Cool right?
We are forgiven - made holy through His blood shed on the cross for our sins (Romans 6:23; John 3:16). His Holy Spirit indwells us and washes us clean at the time of salvation (Titus 3:5). This is the most miraculous demonstration of love the world has ever seen! The Truth of the Gospel. God is sovereign - in control of ALL things (Ephesians 1:11; Romans 8:28). He will never leave us or forsake us (Hebrews 13:5). That is Truth you can count on, even stake your life on.
It’s expected you will.
Do you believe? True Faith is exhibited when times get crazy, and hard, and things happen. Faith says, I know Gods got this! I know He’s got a plan and it’s good, EVEN if that plan includes hard stuff (Jeremiah 29:11).
My perspective may not be His perspective as it pertains to what is defined as good… but I TRUST Him with that too. That is why the writer of Hebrews can open with this reminder:
“We must pay the most careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away.” Hebrews 2:1 NIV
Don’t let doubt creep in and cause you to drift away! Keep your eyes, your faith in Jesus. He already proved His love. He went to The Cross and calls you His Brother, His Sister! He takes care of family!
Love you all! Your faith is bolstered by digging into the Bible. Not my words, but Gods inspired Word. Dig in and live it out!
