Good Morning “Chosen Before.” Today we start Ephesians 1.
We know that no one comes to the Son unless he is drawn by the Father (John 6:44). Salvation is only through Jesus - He is “The Way, The Truth and The Life”(John 14:6). So… if you know Jesus you can be encouraged that you were chosen… way back!
“For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will— to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves.” Ephesians 1:4-6 NIV
He chose you! Not just to remain how you are but to grow up in Jesus - to look more like Him (1 Peter 1:16; Romans 8:29). He adopted us - all to His praise and Glory! It’s all an act of His Grace, which means we did nothing to deserve it (Ephesians 2:8-9). It was all through Jesus went to the cross for us (Romans 6:23)!
“In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace” Ephesians 1:7 NIV
It’s all through Jesus! We are redeemed, bought back, no longer enslaved to sin and destined for eternal suffering (Romans 6:16-18). What a blessing! It’s reasonable then, to expect us to offer ourselves to Him (Romans 12:1).
We know the things of the world are empty, but the things of God are the good stuff (Galatians 5:22-25)! We all long for the Fruit of The Holy Spirit. Isn’t that what we are artificially seeking to fabricate with the world’s offerings? Choose Jesus, the REAL THING! Seems like an easy choice. If you find yourself holding back, and lacking desire, pray for it! If loving, and serving Jesus and others doesn’t sound appealing - be brave enough to pray for more desire! If you’re sincere, He’ll do it - you’ll never be the same! It’s a prayer He wants to answer. How do I know… it’s what we were made for.
