Good Morning “Eye on The Prize”. Today 1 Corinthians 9
Some argue all ministry positions should be volunteer positions. Is it a conflict of interest for those who serve full time to be compensated by the body they serve? Even Old Testament Priests were sustained and provided for through the sacrificial system. Check out how Paul puts it in the first part of this chapter.
I party so I can reach the partier. That’s Biblical right? Paul became all things to all people that in so doing He might win some. Does that mean he was a partaker in their sin? Absolutely not! Paul took the time to understand their world, where they were coming from, and the struggles they have. Ministry is messy. It’s nearly impossible to do without getting involved. “Doing life” with people requires getting into their lives. That’s ministry that makes an impact. Paul got it!
He understood that getting close to people was not beneficial if he fell into their sin. So he conditioned, and kept his body under control. How? The Word of God! He knew there was a prize to receive at the end - “Well done my good and faithful servant” (Matthew 25:21)! He kept his eye on the prize.
“Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. 1 Corinthians 9:24 NIV
Some of us are hard to love, even impossible without The Love of Jesus. As we press into Jesus, His love overflows through us (1 John 4:19). Keeping your eye on the big picture, the prize, keeps you focused on the race! Heaven is your reward! Keep your eyes focused on Him! Love well!
Love you all! Dig in and live it out!
