Good Morning “Those Who Are or Will Be Married.” Today we are in 1 Corinthians 7.

Paul helps us understand Gods expectations for us if we choose to marry someone. Perhaps the toughest challenge we face - is keeping God first. The one who is married is divided. We are concerned about our wives / husbands, and families. We should be, we are to care well for each other (Genesis 1:28, 2:15; 1 Timothy 5:8). On the other hand, the one that remains single can devote themselves fully to the work of the Lord.
Think about how far we’ve come since Paul’s words to the Corinthian church. Have you ever known anyone who chose to remain single so they could devote themselves fully to the work of The Lord?
To be clear, he’s not talking about the world’s way of remaining single. Just dating, fooling around, living together, without entering into covenant marriage before God - is NOT it! Paul’s also not just talking about priests, or church leadership here. He’s talking regular people. He’s giving us all, regular people - his recommendation. Remain single and celibate (no sex) and so that you can serve The Lord fully… or if temptation is too much for you - marry. Once married, stay married - that’s Gods best for us.
God first! No matter what. There is nothing more important than our relationship with Jesus. Even in marriage He must remain the center. Covenantal marriage is between 3 people. Husband, wife, and Jesus (Ecclesiastes 4:12). Together the 3 become 1 and what God has joined together let no one separate (Matthew 19:4-6). With Christ the bond is inseparable.
