Judges 13

Good Morning “Players of Parts in Gods Good Plan.”  Today we are in Judges 13.

”Again the Israelites did evil in the eyes of the Lord…” Judges‬ ‭13‬:‭1‬ ‭

Israel’s rebellion this go around delivers them into the hands of the Philistines for 40 years.  Each time Israel turns away from God the go a little deeper into sin, a little further away from Him.  Each time they fall makes it that much easier the next time - an important lesson for us to grasp.

Here we get a little glimpse into the reality that God has a plan, and His plan is complete.  He’s not making it up as He goes along based on the choices and lives of His people.  Life doesn’t work like a chess game with moves and counter moves.  He is sovereign above all, exists outside of time and space, and knows everything - past, present, future and all the options.  The time has not yet come for Israel to be delivered but God is obviously already working.  He’s working every day and each one of His followers have a part to play. (Ephesians 2:10)

Sampson is to be that deliverer for Israel - set apart as a “type” of savior.  Sampson’s mom, childless until now, about to give birth to a son who would deliver them.  But wait, he’s to be set apart as a Nazarite - with clear instructions as to how to raise him.

There is a lesson here for parents.  If we desire that our children grow up devoted to The Lord, loving Him and loving others with everything they have - that preparation and attitude begins even before birth.  I’ve said it often, “If you want to raise a man or woman of God it starts at birth!”  Maybe even before.  If we wait until our “children” are 18 to start calling them to Biblical manhood or womanhood - it’s far too late. Good or bad “Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.” Proverbs 22:6

Like Sampson we too are to be set apart for service to The Lord for the purpose of waging spiritual war against evil. What does that look like in your life?

Love you all!  Dig in!
