Today we’re in Matthew 2. He is finally here! The long awaited Savior of the world has arrived - born in Bethlehem just as was prophesied! “But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah; for out of you will come a ruler who will shepherd my people Israel.’” Matthew 2:6 NIV Yet another prophecy regarding Jesus fulfilled - this one from Micah 5:2,4. God picked the perfect time and place for Jesus to be born - just like He had said. Herod was king - an evil king who had already had 2 of his own sons killed and a 3rd on the chopping block. Everyone knew this new king was coming - they were anxiously awaiting the arrival of the promised one who would be the Saviour of the world! Herod wasn’t digging it! He was King and not about to watch the people’s attention turn to another. This stone cold killer puts a plan into motion but our God is WAY bigger. He thwarts the plans of men, frustrates the plans of the wicked so they achieve no success. Miraculously God protects Jesus along with Mary and Joseph. He is in sovereign control… ALWAYS.
