The Bible is full of things we are only recently discovering.

In 1977 Scientists discovered a true Hydrothermal vent in the East Pacific off the coast of the Galapagos Rift. A Hydrothermal vent is literally a hot spring on the ocean floor.  It took this long for us to develop equipment strong enough to sustain pressures found on the bottom of the ocean floor. In Genesis 7:11 we read, “In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, on that day all the fountains of the great deep were broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened.”

Job 38:16 “Have you entered the springs of the sea? Or have you walked in search of the depths?” These passages were written before 1400BC—more than 3,000 years before science discovered there were actually underwater springs.

A little Biology
We know the blood carries water and nourishment to every cell, maintains the body’s temperature, and removes the waste material of the body’s cells. The blood also carries oxygen from the lungs throughout the body.  This seems to be common knowledge now days - duh, everyone knows that.  However it was in the year 1616 that William Harvey discovered that blood circulation is the key factor in physical life - confirming what the Bible revealed 3,000 years earlier. The book of Leviticus (written prior to 1400 BC) describes the value of blood. Leviticus 17:11 “For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you on the alter to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood by reason of the life that makes atonement."

Over a period of 1500 years over 3 continents, through at least 3 languages and 40 different authors, God inspired the writers of scripture. Some were Christians and some were not, most had no knowledge of the others or each others writings - God inspired them. They were not even writers!  They were fishermen, herdsman, soldiers, prime ministers, doctors, tent makers and kings, who God used to breathe His Words through. Why believe the Bible? Because we have Faith? Sure, but it’s not empty.  We believe because we know it’s true. We know it’s true because He gave us proof.  Why would we not READ it?
