Good Morning “In At ALL Cost”. Today we are in Jeremiah 26.
Jeremiah was ALL in! He was determined to speak Gods Truth even if it meant his life.
“But as soon as Jeremiah finished telling all the people everything the Lord had commanded him to say, the priests, the prophets and all the people seized him and said, “You must die!” Jeremiah 26:8 NIV
They didn’t like hearing their “practices” were Godless. The prophets and priests didn’t like hearing they were distorting The Word of God and spewing lies. The people didn’t like being told how sinful they were, and NO ONE wanted to hear of their coming judgment.
So… Jeremiah apologized and took back everything he said.
Ummm… NO!
Here’s his actual response:
“Now reform your ways and your actions and obey the Lord your God. Then the Lord will relent and not bring the disaster he has pronounced against you. As for me, I am in your hands; do with me whatever you think is good and right.” Jeremiah 26:13-14 NIV
Jeremiah continues his testimony, and many changed… many of the officials and people stood up to the priests and prophets. They put their lives on the line too! REAL Faith is contagious!
We see a similar stand taken by Peter and John as they are ordered by the religious leaders of their time to quit speaking and teaching in The Name of Jesus. Check out Acts 4 and what leads up to their response. “But Peter and John replied, “Which is right in God’s eyes: to listen to you, or to him? You be the judges! As for us, we cannot help speaking about what we have seen and heard.” Acts 4:19-20 NIV
Although he experienced much persecution in his lifetime, it is believed that John died of natural causes. Other than John, all of the Disciples died horrible martyrs deaths. Research it… it’s easy to find. Why? All through Scripture, we see those who in Faith put their lives on the line. Why would they risk it ALL? Why would they die? First because THIS LIFE ISN’T ALL. It’s just a vapor (James 4:14). And… because they BELIEVED The Truth they proclaimed - with ALL their being. That’s belief in action.
2 things:
1. That kind of faith is inspiring. We see it in today’s chapter with Jeremiah. John and Peter inspired those around them too.
2. We can TRUST the Truth of Gods Word. Those who were there testified with their lives. It’s one of the greatest evidences we have to the validity of Gods Word!
How about you? Would you remain faithful with your life on the line? We’re all quick to answer YES!
Here’s the test… Do you now when your life isn’t?
Love you all! Dig in!
