Good Morning “Legendary”. Today we are in Proverbs 27.
Most of you know my son grew up racing motocross. It became an effective part of our personal ministry - eventually through Team Faith. He was blessed with much natural ability, and worked hard at it from a very young age. He experienced some success locally, nationally and then even got to compete for nearly a decade professionally. From the age of 4 and his first race we reminded him that his talent and the blessing to be able to do what he’s doing, and have success at it - was ALL GOD. It was for a purpose! That purpose was to glorify Jesus and point people to Him. Get a big head, and we’re done… we often said.
Something else soon became apparent. As we traveled nationally and came upon other competitors we’d never seen before… The big talker wasn’t the rider he needed to worry about.
“Let someone else praise you, and not your own mouth; an outsider, and not your own lips.”
Proverbs 27:2 NIV
The fastest kid on the track was often the most humble. You see plainly put, if you’re THAT good you don’t have to tell people. You show them! You don’t have to boast about your skill, other people will, naturally. Leave it to them.
It’s crazy because I run into the same thing with ministry. There are definitely those that will tell you how spiritual and righteous they are. Then, there are those that simply show you. THEY look like Jesus.
“As water reflects the face, so one’s life reflects the heart.”
Proverbs 27:19 NIV
We should purpose to walk it, not just talk it! Telling people about Jesus is so much more impactful when you are living out The Word of God. Humbly reflect Jesus in all the little things and guess what - the big things fall into place. (2 Corinthians 3:18, Romans 8:29, Colossians 3:10, Galatians 2:20)
Love you all! Dig in!
