Isaiah 64

Good Morning “Masterpieces”.  Today we are in Isaiah 64.

As we study Israel, and Her rebellion, repentance and redemption there is much of us to consider and apply.  Israel is hardened for this time… we’ve talked about this.  God is simultaneously shaping Israel into the nation He desires Her to be while drawing Gentiles to salvation through Jesus (Romans 11:25).

In this chapter Isaiah gives us prophesy regarding the day the remnant of Israel will cry out for Messiah.  Ultimately She will fall to Her knees and receive Him.  Israel’s humble repentance ought convict us too.

“All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags; we all shrivel up like a leaf, and like the wind our sins sweep us away.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭64‬:‭6‬ ‭NIV‬‬

The best we have to offer our HOLY God is like filthy rags when offered apart from Jesus.  We cannot in any way earn His favor.  Our sin has separated us and removed any chance of a relationship with our Lord apart from Jesus (Isaiah 59:2).

Ahhh but through Jesus… as we receive His blood shed on the cross for our sin, and make Him LORD of our lives - we humbly acknowledge that He is in full control.  Even and maybe ESPECIALLY, through the tough stuff, He has been, and will continue - molding and making us into what He desires us to be.

“Yet you, Lord, are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭64‬:‭8‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Paul reiterates this idea in Romans 9 as he speaks to exactly what we are talking about.

Don’t despair… He is at work!  He will complete the good work He began in you at the moment of salvation (Philippians 1:6).  If you know Jesus, it’s not by accident (John 6:44).  He’s got good work for you to do in His name (Romans 8:29, Ephesians 2:10).  Rather, with humble submission He will do it through you (Acts 1:8, Matthew 28:18-20).

Love you all!  Dig in!
