Good Morning “Steppers Established By The Lord.” Today we are in Proverbs 16.
“Dear Lord, I’ve decided what I want to do… please bless my decision.” We may not actually pray that… but don’t we do that sometimes? Maybe often? We think, and plan, and maybe even seek advice then ask God to bless our decisions without ever consulting Him. As we’ve studied, we are not alone. David, and Solomon are among the greats… yet we’ve seen them make grand decisions apart from The Lord. We’ve also seen those plans crushed. On the other hand… consider Abraham who stepped out in faith, trusting God to lead each step - with no idea where He was leading.
“In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.” Proverbs 16:9 NIV
He is sovereign. Yet, within that we have some measure of choice, the power to choose contrary to His plan. Hence passages like these in Proverbs 16, as well as many others… Psalm 33:10, Job 5:22-14.
We know what we need to do. Remain in Him (John 15:5). Trust Him, and acknowledge Him in EVERYTHING (Proverbs 3:5-7). Daily submit to Him, which is the ONLY reasonable response to The Mercy and Grace of our God (Romans 12:1). Don’t be like the rest of the world. Snap out of it! We must renew our minds daily with The Word of God, (Romans 12:2) The result… “Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” Romans 12:2b NIV
Seems way more efficient than spending a bunch of energy running the wrong direction.
“There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to death.” Proverbs 16:25 NIV
Love you all! Dig in!
