Good Morning “Thirsty.” Today we are in Isaiah 55.
These next two chapters are “Sonnets” of The Lord… literally Gods Songs of invitation to Salvation through Jesus. God pleads here for Israel to come, yet the offer does extent to all - first to the Jew and then to the Gentile (Romans 1:16). This chapter focuses specifically on Israel, but chapter 56 will focus specifically on “Others”, Gentiles - everyone else. The offer is for all…
“Come, all you who are thirsty…”Isaiah 55:1aNIV
As you consider Gods plea… notice how Jesus embodies in Himself the descriptive language God uses here.
Vs 1 “…all who are thirsty”. What we need is “Living Water” - Jesus (John 4:14).
Vs 2 Jesus is the “Bread of Life” (John 6:35). “Why spend money on what is not bread?” The question He’s asking is why chase after emptiness?
Vs 3 “…that you may live.” Jesus is The Way, The Truth, and The Life (John 14:6). He is the ONLY way to life eternal with The Father in Heaven.
How many other parallels can you find?
Our days are numbered. There is nothing we can do to add to or take away a single minute (Psalm 139:16, Job 14:15, Matthew 6:27, Luke 12:25).
That said… only God knows that number. We may have lots of time left… maybe not.
“Seek the Lord while he may be found; call on him while he is near.”
Isaiah 55:6 NIV
Love you all! Dig in!
