Good Morning “Wrongly Judged.” Today we are in Job 8.
Have you ever felt inaccurately judged by someone? Ever judged someone wrongly yourself? Dare I say we all have? It’s one of the products of our sin nature. Phycology says we make as many as 12 determinations about people within the first 10 seconds of meeting someone. Think we get all those right?
“Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil.” Job 1:1, 8 NIV
We have the blessing, the luxury of having Gods Word regarding Job. His friends didn’t. So, while there is a part of their assumptions we can relate to, there is within them huge application for us.
We’ve already talked about Eliphaz and his messed up assessment of why Job was suffering. Job finishes his defense, and Bildad jumps on the pile. He seems indignant that Job would defend himself. He takes the opportunity to remind Job of how God has responded to sin in the past. STILL… ONE PROBLEM… Job had not displayed any sin.
We must be very careful purposing to know what is in someone’s heart when we have not seen the mouth speak (Luke 6:45). We must be even more careful purposing to speak for God in these cases.
“Surely God does not reject one who is blameless or strengthen the hands of evildoers.”
Job 8:20 NIV
God is Good! All the time! In making the statement above Bildad is suggesting he’s not only got God figured out, but Job as well. Careful, careful. Review 2 Peter 2:1-3
Love you all! Dig in!
