Good Morning “Properly Viewing God.” Today we are in Psalm 76.
Yeah!!!! We win! Today’s Psalm is a song of worship to God for the victory He gave His people.
When the enemies invaded their land, God’s power turned them back and humbled them. The Psalmist urges all to fear the Lord and give to Him the honor He is due.
As we’ve gone through Psalms we’ve been presented with a balanced view of God. We’ve learned about The Good Shepherd, in Psalm 23.
We were given a picture of Gods incredible forgiveness through David’s eyes in Psalm 51.
Today we read about God the Fierce Warrior.
We’ve seen many of His other characteristics as we’ve gone through this book. He is full of kindness and gentleness and most definitely grace!!! Amen! He is also to be feared and respected to the highest degree.
Much of the church today chooses to over emphasize single aspects of God - typically those that put butts in seats. Church can become a business, as pastors seek to keep the big machine rolling and the bills paid.
Some emphasize the fear of God, and His judgment and forget that God is gracious. Others emphasize the grace of God and forget He is to be feared, honored and obeyed.
A proper view of God requires balance. God is ALL the things He is described to be in the Psalms - perfectly!
We must view Him properly, as The God of The Bible and NOT attempt to squeeze Him into our box.
Love you all! Dig in!
