Good Morning “Storm Riders”.  Today we are in Psalm 44.

Today’s psalm is divided into three parts: past, present, and future. During a time of great distress, a small remnant in Judah has set their hearts toward revival.  The psalmist remembers God’s past faithfulness and acknowledges that any past deliverance was all by Gods hand, and not of their own doing. So, the psalmist does not petition the politicians, the merchants, or the army. He seeks the Lord, who fights on behalf of His people. He alone delivers! It is the same point Paul makes to the church in Rome, even quoting Psalm 44 to provide context for his faith.

Check out Romans 8:31-39

While the nation of Israel was being judged for having departed from God’s Word, the remnant of those who had returned to the Lord, and were committed to living according to His Word -  wondered if the Lord had noticed their repentance. They even asked if He was sleeping! It may remind you of yet another New Testament story.

“As they sailed, he fell asleep. A squall came down on the lake, so that the boat was being swamped, and they were in great danger. The disciples went and woke him, saying, “Master, Master, we’re going to drown!” He got up and rebuked the wind and the raging waters; the storm subsided, and all was calm. “Where is your faith?” he asked his disciples. In fear and amazement they asked one another, “Who is this? He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey him.””
‭‭Luke‬ ‭8‬:‭23‬-‭25‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Even as He slept, Jesus had them!  His rebuke to the Disciples for doubting in the midst of the storm… “Where’s your faith?”  Don’t mistake His silence for lack of concern or control.  Lessons are learned in the midst of the storm.  Let’s not forget God brings the wind and the rain (Jeremiah 10:143).  He’s in control of all.  There must first be a storm so that we can learn from it.  Rest and know that He’s got you!

Love you all!  Dig in!
