Good Morning “Sacred Tent Dwellers.” Today we are in Psalm 15.
“Lord, who may dwell in your sacred tent? Who may live on your holy mountain?” Psalms 15:1 NIV
What’s the answer, I want to know don’t you? It may not be what you imagine it to be. It definitely isn’t what the world believes it to be. The answer is one long, but simple sentence, and is found in Psalm 15:2-5. Make sure you check it out if you haven’t yet.
“…Whoever does these things will never be shaken.”
Psalms 15:5 NIV
This Psalm has many parallel verses both in the Old and the New Testaments. It’s yet another reminder that a real relationship with The Lord is simply defined by many of the things that make up any real love relationship. If we truly love someone, then, we seek to respect, and honor them, we purpose never to do the contrary. We want to be close to them, not distant. If our love relationship is with an authority such as a dad, mom, grandparents - it is confirmed with submission, obedience, and honor.
In the absence of these things one easily identifies a breakdown in the relationship. One might even ask if a child that does NOT submit to, respect, honor, and generally fear their authority - even loves their authority. Why do we minimize these principles with our relationship with God when they should actually be exaggerated?
“Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them.”” John 14:21 NIV
“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’”
Matthew 7:21-23 NIV
It’s NOT just about the works or the show. It’s all about the heart! Our works can’t save us, (Eph 2:8-10) but when the heart is right they absolutely demonstrate we’re saved.
Love you all! Dig in!
