Good Morning “His People Called by His Name.”  Today we are in Psalm 107.

I ended yesterday’s devo with 2 Chronicles 7:14.  Today’s Psalm is a picture of what happens when His people called by his name humble themselves, pray, seek His face and turn from their wicked ways.

This is a Psalm of thanks and praise for Gods incredible forgiveness, unfailing love and hand of blessing and a reminder to stay on track.  It urges us all to tell of all that God has done.

“But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect,” 1 Peter 3:15

Lets consider the elements of this verse:

- He is Lord, whether He is acknowledged as such or not… He is Lord of ALL.  “Revere” Him as such!  It keeps us in a proper, appropriate position before Him.

- Remember when someone comes to us lost, hurting, searching… it’s because they have seen something in us, and if even only subconsciously, they believe perhaps we have something they need.  The “light” they see in us is a by product of my first point - revering Him as Lord.  Without asking, they are asking for the “reason for the hope we have”.  In my experience I have NEVER had someone straight up say… “Please tell me why you have hope.”  What I have heard, and likely you have to is - “How do you do it?  How do you stay positive, or keep going in the midst of the mess?” What are they really asking?  They’re asking why and how you have hope.  Our answer ought to be, “Because our God’s got this!  I trust in His faithfulness!  I know He’s got a plan and I know it’s best!  I may not know what tomorrow holds but I know the One who does, and for me… that’s enough!  You can know Him too, let me tell you how”… or something like that.  (Romans 1:16)

- Lastly, always with gentleness and respect.  Remember John 6:44 No one comes to Jesus unless the Father draws them.  Guess what, THAT’S what’s happening at the very moment of our conversation.  God is doing the work.  We’re just the tool!  We ought not mess it up with arrogant pride.  We must humbly remember that.  He does the work, in them and us. (Philippians 1:6, 1 Corinthians 4:7)

Love you all!  Dig in!
