Good Morning “Straight Cutters.”  Today we are in Micah 3.

“Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth. Avoid godless chatter, because those who indulge in it will become more and more ungodly.”
‭‭2 Timothy‬ ‭2‬:‭15‬-‭16‬ ‭NIV‬‬

That passage is what immediately came to mind as I reviewed today’s chapter.  “A worker who correctly handles the Word of Truth”.  The phrase “correctly handles” comes from Greek word “orthotomeó”.  It literally means to cut it straight!

I am almost daily reminded of the liberties some that proclaim Christ take; when teaching, sharing, talking about The Word of God!  All the while… they are NOT even reading it!  Let me put it as simple as I can… We believe what we want to believe, skip over what we don’t, and thus live our lives exactly like that.  We condemn those who “cut it straight”, and welcome the teaching of those that make us feel like God is ok with our sin.  Shame on those teachers that fail to “cut it straight”, those that tickle ears for the sake of butts in seats and money in plates!

THAT is exactly what God addresses through much of both the Old and New Testaments.  THAT is exactly what God is condemning in today’s chapter.  That’s exactly what was prophesied in 2 Timothy 4:3 by Paul.  That time is here once again!

Israel was so messed up in that regard, that from Malachi around 400BC to John the Baptist -  God went silent.  NO Word from The Lord for about 400 years.  He was fed up.  The reason… so that they might once again crave His Word instead of rejecting it  (Amos 8:11-12).

How can we possibly be “approved workmen”, who cut It straight, when our Biblical study consists of my verse for the day, or “my favorite YouTube Pastor said this”!  We have a whole lot of spiritual giants, and amateur theologians out there arrogantly spitting “so called Biblical facts” when they themselves aren’t even in The Word!  Please Lord may I NEVER be THAT guy (Acts 20:27).  I am increasingly convinced the more I learn the less I KNOW.

Love you all!  Dig in and live it out!
