Good Morning “Rich Men and Women.” Today we are in Matthew 19.
“…for this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh’? So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.”
Matthew 19:5-6 NIV This is Gods design for marriage, originally from Genesis 2:24 and repeated here.
Ok, so then what did Jesus say about divorce? It’s all here… that’s the beauty of His Word! He’s given us the answers! Also check (Matthew 5:32; Mark 10:11-12; Corinthians 7:10-11, 15)
So is it better not to marry? Here Jesus has a Word about remaining single. Paul taught a similar Word, repeated in 1 Corinthians 7. He addresses staying single in 7:8
How can I get to heaven? “Just then a man came up to Jesus and asked, “Teacher, what good thing must I do to get eternal life?” Matthew 19:16 NIV Check out Jesus’ answer.
He wants our heart, ALL of it! Above all else! Jesus asks the man to give up the thing that was most valuable to him - his money. He couldn’t! What or who is the thing that is most valuable to you? Could you give it up?
What do camels and needles have to do with money and riches (vs 23-24)? Compared to most of the rest of the world… we’re all rich! How easy would it be for you to give it all up?
With God all things are possible. It’s ALL His! Every good gift comes from Him (James 1:17)! Why do we act as thought it’s ours? Hold it ALL loosely.
“many who are first will be last, and many who are last will be first.” Matthew 19:30 NIV
Love you all! Dig in and live it out!
