Good Morning “Radicals”. Today we are in Malachi 2.

“You have wearied the Lord with your words. “How have we wearied him?” you ask. By saying, “All who do evil are good in the eyes of the Lord, and he is pleased with them” or “Where is the God of justice?” Malachi‬ ‭2‬:‭17‬ ‭NIV‬‬

In today’s chapter Malachi brings rebuke from The Lord for some of Judahs sins.

Their priests have been distorting the Word of God… but how?  Gods covenant with the house of Levi was one of fear.  Levi feared God, and stood in awe of Him (vs 5 ESV).  The priests of Judah lost that - and modeled their lack of fear of God for the people.  As a result they are credited with causing many to stumble and fall into sin (vs 8).

We look at “fear” of The Lord like it’s a bad thing, but remember it is fear of The Lord that keeps us from sin (Exodus 20:20; Job 28:28; Proverbs 3:7, 8:13, 14:27, 16:6).

As a result, selfishness reigned, flesh was indulged and sin surfaced in many ways.  Once sin surfaces… what’s next?  Normalize it.  To relieve conviction, and guilt - call it ok.  We make statements like, “God’s love is unconditional.”  “He loves you, and accepts you no matter how you act”.  Is that True?  Be careful how you answer.  Perhaps review John 14:21 and 1 Peter 1:16 first.  His Grace is INDEED sufficient, and is freely given to ALL who REPENT (Acts 3:19).  There it is… there’s the key.  Humble REPENTANCE.  It doesn’t come in justification of sin.

Furthermore; in our effort to call sin ok, to normalize it - we in turn make obedience, and pursuit of righteousness a bad thing.  We label it an unreasonable expectation, excessive - radical.  “The bar is too high!”

Guys THAT was Judah’s problem!  They made evil good and good evil then wondered where Gods justice went.  Look back at verse 17.

Now, look around… Isn’t that where we find our world today?  Even much of The Church (Isaiah 5:20)?

Love you all!  Dig in and live it out!
