Good Morning “Redeemed.” Today we are in Isaiah 41.
41 opens with what appears to be a courtroom scene, in which the false gods / idols of the gentile nations are called into comparison with The One True God. Nothing, they are nothing in comparison. No real power, no real ability. Once again the question looms… why would we ever put our hope in anything or anyone other than Jesus?
Once again, in this chapter, Isaiah weaves together short term prophecy with long term “end times” Tribulation prophesy. The near term prophecy he speaks of appears to be in his present time. In fact it actually occurs about 150 years after Isaiah’s time here. Isaiahs short term prophecy fits with, and thus seems to be, the raising up of Cyrus King of Persia as Gods tool to come against Babylon and trigger the end to Israel’s captivity in Babylon (Isaiah 45).
Israel will one day, once again, be a powerful great nation that by Gods protection cannot be thwarted.
“All who rage against you will surely be ashamed and disgraced; those who oppose you will be as nothing and perish.” Isaiah 41:11 NIV
The Prophet Zechariah describes the same in Zechariah 12. Ultimately when Israel reaches her lowest she, like us, will be redeemed through the Blood of Jesus, The Savior of The World, against whom none can stand.
“Do not be afraid, you worm Jacob, little Israel, do not fear, for I myself will help you,” declares the Lord, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.” Isaiah 41:14 NIV
Love you all! Dig in!
