Jeremiah 40

Good Morning “Light”.  Today we are in Jeremiah 40.

Jeremiah is freed from his bonds in the Court of The Royal Palace only to be caught up with the exiles and chained again.

Nevertheless it doesn’t appear that Jeremiah’s faith wavers.  May his faith serve as a reminder to us… “Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.” Hebrews‬ ‭10‬:‭23‬ ‭NIV‬‬

No matter the circumstances of life, God is Faithful to His promises regardless of how our temporary circumstances may appear.

As he is in chains, Jeremiah is reminded of that fact - even through the Babylonian captors.

“When the commander of the guard found Jeremiah, he said to him, “The Lord your God decreed this disaster for this place. And now the Lord has brought it about; he has done just as he said he would. All this happened because you people sinned against the Lord and did not obey him. But today I am freeing you from the chains on your wrists. Come with me to Babylon, if you like, and I will look after you; but if you do not want to, then don’t come. Look, the whole country lies before you; go wherever you please.” Jeremiah‬ ‭40‬:‭2‬-‭4‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Did Nebuzaradan, the commander, actually “get it”?  It appears he understood and believed - perhaps even more than the Jews.  Is this evidence of God moving through his heart?  Who knows… God is always moving in every situation.  Nebuzaradan reminds me of the Centurion at the foot of The Cross.

“When the centurion and those with him who were guarding Jesus saw the earthquake and all that had happened, they were terrified, and exclaimed, “Surely he was the Son of God!” Matthew‬ ‭27‬:‭54‬ ‭NIV‬‬

The Faith of Jesus and the resulting supernatural events affected those at the cross.  Could it be that Nebuzaradan was moved by the faith of Jeremiah, the fulfillment of prophecy, perhaps even by his own heart attitude (Proverbs 21:1)?

This side of heaven, we may never truly know how much of an impact our faith has on those who look on!
(Matthew 5:13-16, Philippians 1:27)

Love you all!  Dig in!
