Isaiah 30

Good Morning “Students of His Word.”  Today we are in Isaiah 30.

UCLA did a study in which they polled thousands of students over 1400 college campuses.  The study took years.  Their findings overwhelmingly suggested that “spirituality” was on the rise.  However; a disturbing statistic emerged from the findings.  When asked “Do you seek “spirituality” to know what God requires of you?”  Only 13% answered yes.

What are the rest seeking then?  May I suggest in the “me” world we live in, generally speaking, people are asking “What will God do for me”, not “What can I do for God”, or more appropriately what are His expectations for me as I fully give my life to Him for His Glory (Romans 12:1-2)

No wonder many “try religion” and are disappointed.  “I gave my life to Jesus months ago.. and I still have not won the lottery.”  That seems a joke, but honestly is not far from some conversations I’ve had.

We were created for His purpose and Glory… not the other way around (Romans 8:28-29, Ephesians 2:10.)

As we continue to study Isaiah, and the “Book of Woes”, something jumps off the page in today’s chapter - as Israel repents.

“People of Zion, who live in Jerusalem, you will weep no more. How gracious he will be when you cry for help! As soon as he hears, he will answer you. Although the Lord gives you the bread of adversity and the water of affliction, your teachers will be hidden no more; with your own eyes you will see them.” Isaiah‬ ‭30‬:‭19‬-‭20‬ ‭NIV‬‬

They will be blinded no more… they will now be able to understand their teachers and grasp His Word!  The blessing God showers them with, is His Word!  Jesus understood the power and blessing of Gods Word when He used Deuteronomy 8:3 to battle Satans temptation “Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone.’”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭4‬:‭4‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Only when Israel internalizes  and applies Gods Word, and proves faithful (vs 22), even tossing out their idols -  does He provide earthly blessing.  “He will also send you rain for the seed you sow in the ground, and the food that comes from the land will be rich and plentiful. In that day your cattle will graze in broad meadows.” Isaiah‬ ‭30‬:‭23‬ ‭NIV‬‬

The Word of God is MORE desirable than gold or silver (Psalm 19:10, Psalm 119:72, Proverbs 3:14, Proverbs 8:10).

Love you all!  Dig in!
