Good Morning “Thankful You Didn’t Live in Moab in This Day.” Today we are in Isaiah 15.
In 15 we look at Moab’s judgment. 15 and into 16 appears as a simple chronicling of the events that took place. That doesn’t mean it is void of application for us. Let’s break it down a bit and begin to look at the way in which God judges the nations who positioned themselves against Israel, and His people.
First some background. If you look at a map, Moab is present day Western Jordan, opposite Israel across the Jordan river. They were neighbors. Moab was founded by one of Lots incestuous daughters - sons. There’s a beginning for you.
Although there were times of peace, the two nations were largely enemies.
Moab was a center of Idol worship, so during those times of peace… that idol worship spilled over. Don’t be deceived right? (1 Corinthians 15:33)
We read of Gods judgment on Babylon demonstrating His providence over human history bringing His enemies to destruction - and Gods people to Glory. Then of Philistia. Although the throne of David and the line of Jesus may appear weakened at times… it was never out of Gods protection. The protection of the Davidic Line, was always sure. Jesus was coming and has now come through the line of David, and nothing was going to mess that up.
A couple things to take note of and be sure of here. To say that God will deal harshly with those that come against or corrupt His Children, His people - is an understatement (Matthew 18:6-9).
Gods plan WILL come to pass (Proverbs 19:21). No act of evil or sinful man can thwart or even affect It. Rather, all things play right into It. He’s THAT big!
With this in mind… we get to pick a team. You get to choose (John 1:9-13, John 3:16). With God… or opposed (James 4:4)? Love you all! Dig in!
