Good Morning “Sheep”. Today we are in Jeremiah 8.
Israel wanted to do it their way. They departed from Gods “restrictive” Word and wanted to be free to indulge any and all of what their flesh desired - without consequence. They embraced “god-themed” messages that fed their imaginations, their twisted ideas of what they wanted God to be - while ignoring His standard.
We also, live in a time and “progressive church”culture that seeks to exaggerate the focus on Gods Grace while at the same time minimizing or even denying His Holiness that demands judgment. The late, and yes in my opinion “great” Voddie Baucham in his final sermon to his church entitled “Be Careful How You Talk About The Bride of Christ (Ephesians 5:22-33), made a clear distinction between church’s that teach the whole Counsel, (all sides of God), and those that only teach what “itching ears want to hear” (2 Timothy 4:3). In fact he stated - those that ONLY teach Grace, Prosperity, no discipline, no judgment (I’m paraphrasing) are really no church at all but “Goat Farms”. He was referring to Jesus’ glorious return when He will judge the nations… and separate the sheep from the goats (Matthew 25:31-33). Hint… being a sheep that follows The Shepherd is a good thing - being a goat, not good.
Paul spoke of a future time when history would repeat itself.
“For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine…” (2 Timothy 4:3). It seems that time I here.
If God judged His blessed Israel, how could He not judge us (America) for the same?
“…Thus you nullify the word of God for the sake of your tradition. You hypocrites! Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you: “ ‘These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. They worship me in vain; their teachings are merely human rules.’ ””
Matthew 15:6-9 NIV
“… Peace, peace, to those far and near,” says the Lord. “And I will heal them.” But the wicked are like the tossing sea, which cannot rest, whose waves cast up mire and mud. “There is no peace,” says my God, “for the wicked.” Isaiah 57:19-21 NIV
“And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:7 NIV
The peace Paul speaks of is not the absence of conflict or accountability. It is the peace of knowing the Messiah and obeying His Word. In that… we are at peace with Him (John 14:21).
Love you all! Dig in!
