Psalm 138

Good Morning “Fighters.”  Today we are in Psalm 138.

“I will praise you, Lord, with all my heart; before the “gods” I will sing your praise.” Psalms‬ ‭138‬:‭1‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Pay close attention to what David is saying in this Psalm.  He proclaims that he will praise The LORD God (Yahweh), even before pagan gods!  The mighty warrior who faced Goliath as a boy, standing strong in the face of evil, proclaims - he will praise The LORD even when it’s dangerous or unpopular.

Furthermore he understands that The Gospel has POWER to turn the hearts of every king of every nation.
“May all the kings of the earth praise you, Lord, when they hear what you have decreed.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭138‬:‭4‬ ‭NIV‬‬

This Psalm seems to echo David’s confidence in Psalm 23.  He’s got faith in Gods strength and protection in the midst of his enemies, in the face of opposition.

How about us?  Do we boldly praise Him and tell of His wondrous works - even in the midst of opposition?  Or… do we only praise, worship, and testify when we’re in church, or surrounded by the Body of Believers?  It’s easy to be a follower of Christ on Sunday morning, because in church, it IS “the popular thing to do”.  What about when it’s not?  Boxer Mike Tyson is credited with saying, “Everyone is a fighter until they get punched in the face.”

Always be prepared, always be ready… remember it is God who does the work in and through you AS you speak, AS you step out, AS you are going… not necessarily before (Acts 1:8, Matthew 28:18-20, 1 Peter 3:15-16).  When we stand before The LORD, we all want to hear “Well done my good and faithful servant”.  But, are we faithful?  If we want God to use us for BIG stuff, we must first be daily obedient and faithful with what seems like small stuff (Matthew 25:14-30).

Let’s get to work!  Love you all!  Dig in!
