Good Morning “Willing”.
Today we start Jeremiah chapter 1.
God spoke through the Prophet Jeremiah for 40 years - from the end of the Assyrian period until Judah was taken into Babylonian captivity. The book of Jeremiah bounces back and forth in time, but the over all theme is consistent within its self. It’s also consistent with the rest of Scripture - evil will meet with justice, sin will be dealt with and disciplined, and restoration will come through The Lord by Grace upon repentance.
God begins by prepping Jeremiah to carry His Word to his people…
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.””
Jeremiah 1:5 NIV
He continues assuring Jeremiah that He will work through him. God is not limited by our inabilities. We need not be afraid. If God calls and leads us to it… He’ll carry us through it. It’s no accident we find ourselves where we find ourselves. He created us specifically for His good work, gives us life and breath and places us right where He wants us (Psalm 139:13-16, Ephesians 2:8-10, Acts 17:25-28).
Remember God doesn’t draw us to the Savior, save us from sin and death, simply so we can spend eternity in heaven (John 6:44, Romans 8:28-29). It’s bigger than that. If we love Him, demonstration of that love is a heart to be obedient. Obedience demands service to Him and His people.
God is calling (Acts 1:8, Matthew 28:18-20)… May our response be like Isaiah’s
“Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!””
Isaiah 6:8 NIV
Love you all! Dig in!
