Isaiah 59

Good Morning “Weary of Sin.”  Today we are in Isaiah 59.

It seems like we talk about our sin, repentance and redemption through Jesus A-LOT!  I know this.  Where’s the bunnies and rainbows?  Honestly… not often found in Scripture.  We talk about sin a lot, because Scripture addresses it from beginning to end.  It runs hand in hand with the offer of Salvation by Grace through Messiah - from beginning to end.  Why do we need a Savior?  Sin!

We have a problem, it’s universal, and it’s getting worse.  The Holy Spirit is the only restraint ( 2 Thessalonians 2:6-7).  So… we continue to address it (Philippians 2:12-15).  That’s the only faithful thing we can do.  Jesus does the work in us by His Holy Spirit (John 14:15-16) and He’s not letting up either (Philippians 1:6). Jesus does the heavy lifting but make no mistake, we must faithfully submit ourselves to God and the process (James 4:7-8).

Sin dogs the steps of every person (Romans 3:23).  We see THAT boldly proclaimed to Israel in this chapter right from the start.  It absolutely applies to us as well -

“Surely the arm of the Lord is not too short to save, nor his ear too dull to hear. But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear.” Isaiah‬ ‭59‬:‭1‬-‭2‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Our sin separates us from God.  It even inhibits our prayers (Psalm 66:18).  We are the disobedient child asking for stuff in the midst of disobedience.  Like a parent may say to a child “Change your heart and your attitude, then maybe we’ll talk”, God does not respond in the midst of our hard hearted rebellion.  Repentance is the key to restoration (1 John 1:9).

We are in a battle no doubt, a Spiritual Battle - but God has given us all we need through Jesus to be victorious (2 Peter 1:3).  Ephesians 6:10-17 (The Armor of God) finds its routes in this chapter of Isaiah.  Check it out.  Through Jesus we too can stand against Satans schemes.  What’s more we can stand against our own flesh (James 1:14, Romans 6 emphasis on vs 6)

Love you all!  Dig in!
