Good Morning “Weary-less Runners” Today we are in Isaiah 40.
The bulk of Israel in Isaiah’s day no doubt felt like God had abandoned them. They lived with a false sense of God and His purpose in their lives. Like many in our world today they sought religion for the wrong reasons. “I tried religion Pastor Jason, I was all in for at least 6 months and nothing really changed.” I’ve often responded to statements like that with a joke… like “What did you think was going to happen? Did you think you’d win the lottery?” That may be an exaggeration but that’s the point.
Israel believed their “religion” was all about what God could do for them and not their privilege to serve Him. As long as we feel God exists for our pleasure, we will probably be disappointed. But the Truth is we exist for God’s pleasure, His Glory. God is honored, glorified, and receives pleasure when we faithfully worship Him despite all the worlds offerings and when we faithfully remain in Him through difficult times, as well as good ones.
“Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” Isaiah 40:30-31 NIV
That passage is one of my all time favorites. Why? Because life is hard. And… if we do not faithfully place our hope in Him it will crush us… but if we do…
Ahhhhh - we will tirelessly soar on wings like eagles. The key is “Those who hope in The Lord” - nothing and no one else. Why would we hope in anything else? Nothing and NO ONE else compares. Isaiah takes the whole chapter to remind us just how qualified God is. He is in sovereign control of ALL things.
Love you all! Dig in!
